AI and Yoga introduced for CBSE students

 - 18 March, 2019

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students will be introduced to the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The board has approved the inclusion of artificial intelligence as an optional subject for class 9 students for the upcoming academic session which starts in April 2019. The CBSE board has also introduced early childhood care education and yoga as new subjects.

Recognising the ‘geo-strategic’ importance of AI, CBSE schools have decided to introduce it as an optional subject for students from class 9 onwards. It was also decided that a module on AI will be started for students of class 8.
The CBSE circular stated that in order to enhance the multidisciplinary approach in teaching learning and to also sensitise the new generation, it was decided that schools will start an AI ‘inspire’ module for 12 hours in class 8 itself.

It was also decided that yoga and early childhood care education will be introduced at the senior secondary level from the current academic session.
