N. R. Madhava Menon, father of Modern Legal Education in India, passes away

Professor N. R. Madhava Menon, pioneer of Modern Indian Legal Education, passed away on 7 May, 2019 at a private hospital in Trivandrum due to age-related ailments.
Madhava Menon founded the National Law School of India in Bengaluru, National University of Judicial Sciences in Kolkata and the National Judicial Academy in Bhopal. He was the first head of all this institution.
He established the first National Law School of India at Bangalore which pioneered the National Law Schools all over the country.
He was awarded with the Padma Shri in 2003 and the Living Legend of Law award by International Bar Association in 1994.
