Scholarships for NTSE doubled

From 2019, the NTSE (National Talent Search Exam) scholarship will be awarded to 2000 meritorious students. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has announced the enhancement of scholarships from 1000 to 2000. The scholarship amount was increased from last year. The NCERT also stated that 2000 scholarships are awarded in the country with a reservation of 15 percent for SC, 7.5 percent for ST and 27 percent for other backward classes, and 4 percent for groups of students who are differently abled.
The National Talent Search Exam is held in two levels namely state (stage one) and national level (stage two).
The first stage of the exam is held on the first Sunday of November except in Nagaland and  Andaman and Nicobar Islands where it is held on the first Saturday of November. The exam consists of mental ability and scholastic aptitude test.
The second stage is held on the second Sunday of May. Candidates who qualify in the first stage of the exam are eligible to appear for it. The exam will be held in Asamiya, Bangla, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu languages.
