The World Bank and UNICEF in partnership has made a new commitment to promote skills, training and education for youth in developing countries. The main aim is to boost the employment rate.
In alignment with Generation Unlimited, the partnership will align 1 billion dollars for younger people as they are the pathway to jobs in today’s changing world of employment.
“As millions of younger people enter the workforce in developing countries, it matters to them and to the whole world that they can find decent job,” said Kristalina Georieva, CEO of World Bank. “With the right skills and the right opportunities, young people can drive global growth and prosperity, but we can’t take this for granted. We must work together to invent in education, training, jobs and entrepreneurship so they can reach their potential”.
The World Bank is expected to focus on -
  • Bringing changes in curriculum in formal education so that skills and knowledge properly synchronises with workplace demands.
  • Higher access to skill-based programmes, apart from formal education.
  • Putting more effort to decrease the unemployment rate by matching job seekers with opportunities.
Henrietta Fore, the Executive Director of UNICEF said “Let’s increase investment in young people now, by transforming education systems and scaling up skills training. We need to open up opportunities to the futures of millions of young people”.
With the growth of unemployment rate, global progress, training and jobs will shut down. Hence the transformation is for the global betterment.
