College Students create app to detect fake news
 - 06 March, 2019
The students of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Delhi, have developed an app called WhatsFarzi. This app will help users check the authenticity of a message in a text or image format spreading on Facebook and Whatsapp.
To use this app, one needs to download ‘WhatsFarzi’ from Google playstore. To check the authenticity of a viral text and image, the user will have to copy and paste it at the designated space in the app. The app will then rate the content on a scale of fake to authentic, through a coloured bar.
The app, however, is not equipped to check the authenticity of video messages.
The app helps users to differentiate between the genuine and fake news spreading over the internet.
