Machhli, The Multi-coloured Fish!

Inside the oceans deep, there's a magic land,
Rain forests of Coral reefs  in colours, vibrant and grand.
Fishes -
Fish that farm, sharks with teeth on their skin,
Parrot fish in armour by night, all from within!
Starfish, goldfish, catfish, cod and mackerel
Blowfish, platyfish, dogfish, eel and the swordtail.

Whales, sharks, skates and rays, together they are found,
Angel, carpet, bullhead, cowshark and the smooth hound.
Humpback, minke, beluga, blue, pilot or the killer
In pod or gam or herd or frenzy, school or shoal or shiver!

Machhli,  the colourful little fish, was always ever so lonely
Saw all the other fishes at play and wished .... “If only
I were to be like them in a single colour, white or grey,
Maybe, they'd ask me to be friend and call me over to play!”

A mighty whale saw this little one,
With scales in colours bright,
Sit amidst the weeds and tears shed,
Alone through day and night!

"You are bright and young", said the wise owlfish,
"A little different though!
If, colours from your scales you share,
You'll make many friends , you know?

You are just the same as all of them,
You are lucky, you have colours rare.”
Machhli smiled doing Swish! Swish! Swish!
"I will, with them, all my colours share."

Machhli took the sparkle, from her golden scales she gave,
Splashed it over the fishes, swimming over tide and wave.
Saw a school of grey fish, swim across all looking new,
In scales with golden borders, and  gold inside fins too!

Soon there were fishes in shades of yellow, red and turquoise blue,
Pink and purple , orange and green , and silver white, a few!
They all swam together with Machhli, and had great fun at play.
Rainbow colours in waters clear, you can see even today!

Machhli, she was surrounded by friends and friends all new.

Sharing gave her happiness and the joy she never knew!
