Teaching Methodology

 Teaching Methodology

The "teaching methodology" is basically the method of imparting knowledge to students in different and innovative ways. It is to be implemented by teachers to achieve the desired learning by the students.

The adaptation of different teaching techniques or methodology plays a very crucial role as far as 100% attention of students is concerned, in regards to concept dealing explaining tactics and recapitulation of previous teaching.
  • I basically believe in one basic funda – "FUN WITH MATHS". Over the years I have observed that students face difficulties in dealing with "Mental Math". Hence, I created a revised version of a traditional game – "Tipi Tipi Top".
In this game the teacher will write the answers of pre-decided mental math questions on walls, board, doors benches etc. and she makes small groups of 5 students (at least 5-6 groups to be made).

Group wise as the groups come in front, she asks the questions and then students look for the answer around and rush to touch the wall, board or wherever they find the answer.
Eg.-     Teacher           : "Tipi Tipi Top"…
Students          : "What sums you want?"
Teacher           : "I want 4 less than largest 3-digit number"

After the activity, the reaction of the students was overwhelming. The children were so elated because it is always fun to learn "Math in gaming mode".
  • After executing the above game in the class, the rapport or the equation between the teacher and students has raised and hence the bar of learning too. In fact, now the students are even more charged and have pulled up their socks to practice Mental Math even harder, to win the game. Also, I was satisfied that I could reach the weaker ones well.
  • It was an activity with lots of fun and frolic. It actually gives immense happiness when you learn something in a different and effective way which is different and not monotonous.
  • As it was executed in a classroom scenario the only tool which was required was "Chalk". Unlike other activities it does not require before-hand preparations. The game can be played whenever and wherever possible, especially when the teacher feels the essence of the class is being lost.
  •
  • This activity is innovative because it is a blend of a traditional game with today's learning. It is also fun and exciting.
Moreover, it involves maximum number of Multiple Intellegence skills, reaching everyone in the classroom.
