A comb
-
A woollen Sock

A long, lightweight thread

A tape
Directions

Rub the woollen socks vigorously against the comb.

Now, take the thread and tape it on a table.

Touch the comb to the free end of the thread and raise your comb. You will see that the thread rises into the air without any support.
(Instead of a thread, you can conduct this experiment using small bits of papers too!)
How does this Work?
When you rub your sock with a comb, you are actually giving the comb electric charge! The positive charge on the comb attracts the opposite negative charge present in the thread and hence, the thread is rises in the air.
